Kazuto Ogawa received his B.E. from the University of Tokyo in 1987. He joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) in 1987 and had engaged as a video cameraman from 1987 to 1991. He had been a researcher at NHK since 1991 and had been on loan to the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) from 2020 to July 2023. He received a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2008. He is currently a distinguished researcher at NICT.

His research interests include the improvement of content distribution and broadcasting services and cryptography for services.

He received Best Paper Awards in 2008, 2019, and 2021 from IEICE and Contribution Award from Engineering Sciences Society of IEICE. He also received Contribution Awards in 2016 and 2017 from International Workshop on Security, DoCoMo Mobile Science Award in 2011, and Telecom System Technology Award in 2016. He is an IEICE fellow.
