Naoyuki Shinohara received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mathematics from Kyushu University in 2002, 2004, and 2008, respectively. He was a researcher at the Japan Science and Technology Agency from 2007 to 2009 and a postdoctoral fellow at Rikkyo University in 2009. He joined the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in 2009. He was a researcher at NICT from 2009 to 2014, a senior researcher from 2014 to 2020, and a research manager from 2020 to 2023. He has been a director at NICT since 2023.
His research interests include computational number theory, computer algebra, and the cryptanalysis of public key cryptosystems.
He received the Research Encouragement Award from the Japan Society for Symbolic and Algebraic Computation (JSSAC) in 2008, the IPSJ Kiyasu Special Industrial Achievement Award in 2012, the DoCoMo Mobile Science Award in 2013, the IEICE Achievement Award in 2013, and the Best Paper Award in IWSEC 2019.
He is a member of IEICE, JSIAM, and JSSAC.
